Dawn Young, RYT dawn

Dawn Young, RYT, is a certified yoga teacher who moved from Maine to Salt Lake in January 2006. She has worked for many years with children with autism and adults with various disabilities.

 
Dawn has been practicing yoga for 15 years and is certified through the Ananda Seva Mission in Santa Rosa, California. She particularly enjoys practicing Anusara yoga, but Dawn loves that there are so many styles and talented teachers here in Salt Lake.
 
In her free time, Dawn is a rock climber, and has always felt that yoga and climbing go hand in hand. She also teaches & coaches climbing. In addition, Dawn is a certified rock climbing guide.
 
Dawn teaches yoga at Momentum Indoor Climbing gym, KULA Yoga Center, the Jewish Community Center, and for many GreenTREE Yoga programs.

 

Juliet Richardson,RYT juliet

 

Juliet Richardson, RYT, is a certified yoga instructor from the East Coast.  She discovered yoga 11 years ago in NYC while working in the fashion and music industries.  Her interest in yoga grew from an overwhelming need for stress relief from her high-pressured life.  Moving to Salt Lake City one year ago provided the opportunity to serve in a variety of settings, wherein she began teaching throughout the Valley. As both a student and teacher of Hatha and Vinyasa Flow, she also enjoys Ashtanga and Bikram Yoga and is well versed in the fundamentals of Yoga and anatomy.  She enjoys introducing and building the foundation for a successful personal practice in her classes, having developed a flow that appeals to all levels, aiming to center and calm the mind while realigning and strengthening the body.

Juliet has contributed her talents to help create the GreenTREE LittleTREE Yoga program and CD (Yoga for ages 2-6 years).

 

 

Karan Estee

Karan EsteeA native of South Carolina, Karan has been teaching yoga for the last three years and developing her own practice for the last seven. She is also a certified personal trainer at the Jewish Community Center and owns her own business teaching whitewater kayaking. Karan feels that yoga has greatly enhanced her own life from building confidence and inner peace to building strength both mentally and physically to make her a better athlete. Karan loves to share yoga’s healing nature with anyone willing to receive it. When she’s not working, Karan can be found running rivers or riding her mountain bike.

 

Cynthia Wand

Cynthia WandFor the past 12 years, Cynthia's work as a Master Facilitator for The Virtues Project™ a Global International organization,  has taken her  into a variety of diverse cultures, communities and individual and family coaching. Cynthia has developed “Yoga Beyond the Mat™”, yoga that inspires us to strengthen both our inner and outer qualities bringing the practice and essence of yoga off the mat and into our daily lives. Her yoga experience with adolescents and teens in addition to her retreats for women, give her a well-rounded , unique approach and experience with this ancient art and gift to the world.
 

She also is a co-author with her husband, Steven, of the book, "Living the Heartlife™, Letting Go of the Hard Life." The book is a model for personal and global transformation, inspiring us all to look within, open to new possibilities, and create the life we truly want to live.

Cynthia is a coauthor of the book School Volunteer Handbook: An Easy Guide for K-6 Parents and Teachers (Lila Press, 2010, in press) with Yael Calhoun and Elizabeth Finlinison.

Joanne Payne, LMT. Director of Physical Education Programs

Joanne Payne, L.M.T.Joanne has a BS in Physical Education (PE), with a concentration in Adult Fitness, and is a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT).  For over 25 years, she has taught anatomy and movement education.  As Director of PE for a special needs school, she integrated adaptive PE programs, including yoga, to insure the success of each student. In the Adult Fitness industry, she developed comprehensive fitness training programs, including a cardiac rehabilitation program for heart attack survivors and a strength training manual for safer and more effective resistance training.

As a natural extension of both her background in PE and fitness and her background as a competitive athlete, Joanne has extended her massage therapy skills into sports massage. She has worked with many sports and teams, including Olympic Teams, professional and University teams and individual athletes.  As team therapist for Salt Lake Aquatics Program, she taught yoga and performed massage to enhance performance of students from ages 5-21 years old, including two Salt Lake City residents, Olympians (Athens Summer Games): Justin Wilcock and Rachelle Smith.

Beyond teaching sport yoga and movement to high-level athletes, Joanne has been trained in and taught yoga for people with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, scoliosis, pre- and post-natal women, and seniors.  Her combined educational and professional background gives her an anatomically-based approach that makes her style of teaching yoga effective and joyful for every student.

Isabelle Barger, Director of the Spanish Yoga Program

Isabelle Barger, Director of the Spanish Yoga Program Isabelle Barger is a certified Yoga Teacher and Master of Yoga with the International Yoga Federation.  She loves to teach the methods of Yoga Integral, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Traditional Hatha Yoga, Classical Raja Yoga, Artistic YogaTM, Yoga Therapy, Power Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Maha Kundalini Yoga, Children´s Yoga, Mantras, Meditation, Bhakti and Karma Yoga.  In addition to these, she has also practiced Bikram Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Anusara Yoga, Buddhist Yoga, Flow Yoga, and Zen Yoga, among others.  She had the opportunity to study extensively with Swami Maitreyananda in Buenos Aires, Argentina with whom she achieved the Yogacharini level and received various initiations--initiation into Yoga, Mantra, Pranavidya Reiki, and the title Karma Swamini.  

She has participated in International Yoga Competitions and she is the 2008 World Champion of Yoga Asanas, 2008 2nd place winner of Yoga Sport, and 2007 3rd place winner of Artistic YogaTM representing the United States.  She is responsible for the translation into English of many yoga documents, including "What is Yoga" by Swami Maitreyananda, and "Rules and Regulations of Yoga Sport" which explains the "yoga" in "yoga competition".  Isabelle teaches Children´s Yoga with Green Tree Yoga, and she is the Director of the Spanish Program.  

Her personal sadhana (practice) is a synthesis of many yoga techniques from all the great yoga methods.

Isabelle grew up speaking French and English, and now speaks fluent Spanish having lived in Argentina for several years.

Apart from teaching yoga and training yoga teachers, she loves music, going for walks, foreign languages, and laughter. She is a graduate of the University of Utah with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature.
