EDUCATION

What makes students calm down, perk up, focus, stretch, and have fun?  Yoga.  Our professional development trainings provide fun and relaxation while teachers learn about the many benefits of yoga. No yoga experience is needed.  The trainings are designed for all shapes, sizes, physical abilities, and ages.  Learn how to incorporate simple yoga exercises and stress management techniques into your existing curriculum.  And learn some simple relaxation techniques to manage your own stress.

Yoga meets the state and National Core Curriculum requirements for Health and PE.

Comments on GreenTREE Yoga Professional Development for Teachers/Coaches (7-12)

"Very knowledgeable instructors...made it applicable to PE teachers and coaches.  I really liked that we experienced ourselves instead of just talking about it." ~ A. Mills, Salt Lake City Teacher

"It was most helpful to have an introduction to yoga -- the mind-body connection.  This was my first experience and now I realize the value of it.  It was great! Thank you!"~  A.Roumpos, Salt Lake City PE teacher

"This helped me understand body movement and why it's important to incorporate this into your programs."  ~ R. Stubbs, Salt Lake City PE teacher

SOCIAL WORK/NURSES for CEU credits, staff training, or professional development

Appropriate for Hospice staff, nurses, and social workers in any professional setting.

Please see our page on Compassion Fatigue. click here

Trainings offer two components and can be tailored to your professional needs:

(1) to teach stress management tools for the social workers self-care plan

Self-Care Plan for the Staff
Yoga for You invites people of all sizes, shapes, ages, and abilities to experience easy yoga exercises and breathing techniques.  This component will show participants how to:  incorporate the benefits of yoga into their self-care plan, deal with compassion fatigue, manage their own stress, and improve their health.

Participants will do a simple yoga practice so they can experience the benefits. In addition, participants will be introduced to the GTY 5 minute relaxation breaks (an audio tool) that can be done with clients or at home.

(2)  to give the clinician some simple tools to provide the benefits of yoga to their clients.

Tools to teach Clients/Patients
Using an engaging and interactive approach, GTY creates the opportunity for workshop participants to experience the benefits of using simple yoga to relieve stress, build client/patient trust, teamwork, self-confidence, and focus as we move through a variety of yoga exercises and breathing techniques to use with different populations.  The specific benefits of yoga will be outlined and yoga sequences and ideas that can be used to strengthen and complement their existing programs will be offered.

Some of the populations that benefit from yoga programs include: hospice patients; abuse victims; addiction recovery clients; the mentally/emotionally challenged; physically disabled; and clients with body image/self-esteem issues.  Yoga can also be incorporated into family therapy and play therapy.
