Adam Ballenger“Yoga can be the passion in your profession, it can be a challenging area of alignment and it can be incredibly rewarding when you look into the eyes of those you connect with,” says Adam.

Adam was first introduced to yoga after a motorcycle accident in 1992 to help fill in what Physical Therapy wasn’t covering. During the rest of college Adam practiced yoga sporadically, except after two more automobile accidents. After college, an exercise presenter and Public Speaker/Presenter on fitness and bio-mechanics, Adam continued studying yoga as well as Feldenkreis, Alexander, Thomas Hanna and how the mechanics of these and such things as particular styles of martial arts and Pilates could be assimilated and used for private & group exercise as well as therapeutic exercise.

As a professional presenter in the fitness field, Adam has presented hundreds of workshops through the southern, western and a little of the north eastern United States. In the late 90's, Adam was introduced to Anusara Yoga and found the extremely a well -balanced, well -presented and deep practice so enticing that he began dedicating more and more time to Anusara. Adam began teaching yoga in 1996. Introduced to Arizona Yoga and Arts / Desiree Rumbaugh in 1999 & John Friend in about 2001. Adam taught yoga at Arizona Yoga under Desiree Rumbaugh during 2002 and most of 2003.

Kula LogoToday, Adam is co-owner of Kula Yoga Studio in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kula is a great yoga community in the mountains of Utah. Kula is a mostly "Green" studio/building project as well as a registered yoga school.

Loren Lambert, Esq.; Secretary

Loren Lambert, Esq.; SecretaryAttorney Loren M. Lambert has a diverse background.  He has been a kayak, canoe and rafting guide upon the Snake and Salmon rivers.  He is a part time professional singer and actor in Salt Lake City, Utah and currently runs his own legal practice, Arrow Legal Solutions, and is a board member of OFFER (a non-profit organization that promotes advocacy, education and research for persons with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia).

His practice provides many legal services, including disability law, family law, criminal law, personal injury law and general litigation services.  Mr. Lambert also served a three year tour of duty as a JAG officer in the United States Army.  

Mr. Lambert's other interests include photography, swimming, yoga, weight lifting, dancing, crew, climbing, and camping.  Mr. Lambert has competed in wrestling, volley ball, long distance running, triathlons and kayaking.  He plays the recorder, drums and the saxophone and loves music. His achievements include a black belt in Tae Kwon-Do and winning the Governor's Cup in kayaking in Jackson, Wyoming.

Nina Vought, M.F.A. Assistant Professor, Theatre Dept, Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah

Nina Vought has been teaching at Westminster College for 12 years. She lives and works in conjunction with her husband Michael, and together they run the Westminster College Theatre Program. In addition to teaching Acting, Costumes and Makeup, and Design for Theatre, she teaches Yoga. Nina has been practicing yoga for more than 15 years, and enjoys using yoga as a tool for wellness. She loves to introduce students to its vast array of benefits. In addition, Nina adores mothering her two sons, Robinson 13, and Grady 8.

Erin Geesaman Rabke

Erin Geesaman RabkeErin Geesaman Rabke has delighted in movement arts all her life and has been a student of meditation and human health for more than fifteen years. After beginning yoga practice in 1987, she was first asked to teach yoga in 1995 and has been doing so ever since. She has studied and taught Tai Chi since 1992 and holds advanced teaching certification from Red Lotus School of Movement. After leaving the U of U's school of nursing in 1999, Erin designed her own degree in Integrated Somatics. Erin taught a year long yoga teacher training at Soma Yoga Studio in 2005 with colleague Peter Francyck. She graduated from a 4-year training program in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education  in 2007. Erin is a full time movement-educator, offering workshops and courses, as well as maintaining a thriving private practice in Feldenkrais, yoga and yoga therapy in Salt Lake City. Charlotte Bell. ERYT (500 hours); Vice PresidentCharlotte Bell has been practicing yoga since 1982, and began teaching in 1986. She has established and taught regular classes along Utah’s Wasatch Front, and in California and Hawaii. She has also taught workshops and yoga for cancer patients and their families at the Cancer Wellness House in Salt Lake City. She has taught at national conferences and international teacher trainings. Each summer, Charlotte leads yoga classes on women’s river rafting trips.

In addition to teaching yoga and meditation, Charlotte writes feature stories for Utah publications, including Catalyst magazine. She has modeled and served as editorial adviser for Hugger-Mugger Yoga Products’ catalogs since 1986. She has been commissioned by Planet Bluegrass in Boulder, Colorado to write a book about the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. She also edits and produces the newsletter for the Intermountain Iyengar Yoga Association. She is the author of the forthcoming book, Mindful Yoga, Mindful Life, which will be published by Rodmell Press in spring 2008.

Charlotte plays oboe and English horn and in the Salt Lake Symphony, where she also serves on the board of directors as director of media relations. She also plays in the chamber folk ensemble, blue haiku and the folk group, Red Rock Rondo. In addition, she plays monthly performances in nursing homes, hospitals, rehab centers, assisted living facilities and youth correctional facilities through the Salt Lake City non-profit group, Heart & Soul.

Hobson R.A. Calhoun, M.F.S., M.A.T., Vice President

Hobson R.A. Calhoun, M.F.S., M.A.T., President Mr. Calhoun has over 20 years of experience in private nonprofit administration and fundraising. This experience includes being a founding Board member of two nonprofits (Western Shore Conservancy for the Protection of Natural Areas, Prince George’s County, Maryland; and the New England Environmental Education Association)and 15 years of experience administering three other nonprofits Associate Director of the Rhode Island Audubon Society; Executive Director of The Neighborhood House, Northeast Harbor, Maine; and, Executive Director of The Audubon Naturalist Society of the Central Atlantic States).

Mr. Calhoun’s education includes a B.A. from Yale University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Chicago, and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Education and Environmental Sciences from the Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Currently Mr. Calhoun runs his own business doing real estate and mortgages in northern Utah and enjoys yoga, kayaking, skiing, cycling, and hiking.

 

Elizabeth Finlinson, L.C.S.W.; Treasurer

Elizabeth Finlinson, L.C.S.W.; TreasurerElizabeth Q. Finlinson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  She has a B.S. and an M.S.W. from the University of Utah.  Professionally, she has worked as a school therapist, volunteer coordinator, and as a private practitioner specializing in children and families.  She has also worked in development and fundraising for many organizations both as an employee and volunteer.

Elizabeth currently serves as a volunteer president of a young women's group in her church.  She has worked in the young women's organization with other adult leaders for over 10 years.  She provides leadership training for youth and adults, plans camps, youth conferences and purposeful weekly activities.  Elizabeth has also accepted many invitations to speak, recently she presented at Brigham Young University's Women's Conference.

As a parent of four children, an active volunteer in her church and
community, and clinical social worker, Elizabeth recognizes the need for balance and the benefits of practicing yoga.  Elizabeth was introduced to yoga 18 years ago when she and her fiance, now husband, decided on a whim to take a yoga class during their engagement.  They have been enjoying the fitness and mental health benefits of yoga since.
