    Yoga for Compassion Fatigue

It was so fun to share some yoga for compassion fatigue ideas with the social workers from Liberty Dialysis (from UT,CO, and ID) today. Some comments:
” I love the way you connected the yoga so closely with the social work.”
“Presenter was approachable and down to earth. I loved the presentation of the brain/science research based in science.”
“It was a nice balance of thought and practice — it reminded me of what i “used to do’ — inspires mre to practice, to start up again. And I feel calmer than I have felt since last spring! Thank you! It was just great!! You have piqued my interest in the science side — and the social work connection.”
If you have a group that might benefit from some of these ideas, please get in touch. Offered for both nurses and social workers CE credits!

Sharing Stress Breaks with Nurses and Social Workers

This past week GreenTREE Yoga has been able to share ideas about yoga stress breaks at  several annual conferences:

The Utah Domestic Violence Council, the Utah Nurses Association, and the Utah Society for Perianesthesia Nurses (USPAN).  Folks seemed very receptive to incorporating a few simple stretching and breathing breaks into their busy days, both for self care and for their patients/clients/families.

One of our more popular suggestions is three quick breathing breaks to get ‘unstuck’.  We will have the free audio available next week, so check back.  The handout is available now  Click Here. Please share your ideas on how you  use these breaks.  Breathe Easy!

    Caregivers and the workplace

The Family Leave and Medical Act of 1993 was a great start to supporting caregivers in the workplace, but it only applies to larger companies…and it is unpaid leave.  For more ideas on the issue, go to:  http://caregiver.com/articles/caregiver/a_silent_crisis.htm
